Nolan Wheeler wins big at Harrison Tournament -
4/19/2010
6 Indians traveled to Harrison High School Saturday for our first Freestlye/Greco tournament of the season. Nolan Wheeler took first in both styles. JT Todd took 2nd in Greco and 4th in Freestyle. James Stewart took 2nd in Freestyle and 4th in Greco. Wynston Sugarman took 3rd in both styles. Autsin Blankenship and Robert Enright both missed out on medaling by one match each in brackets where they were the youngest and usually the lightest wrestler. Lumpkin got better this weekend and continues to get stronger.

Questions about Indian Youth Wrestling -
7/24/2008
What is U.S.A. wrestling? This is a very organized institution that offers wrestling to all ages. You will be required to buy a U.S.A. wrestling card that provides insurance and allows your kid on the mat. Kids that have just started wrestling will have the opportunity to attend beginner tournaments and wrestle someone with about the same experience. You may visit these two websites for more information, www.teamgeorgiawrestling.com and www.themat.com. Wrestling starts as young as 4 years old. We offer a structured safe environment for kids to learn how to wrestle. When the kids and parents feel they are ready the USA team will take them to competition. Wrestlers up to grade 5 will be on the U.S.A. team and 6th – 8th graders will be on the middle school and USA team. On the average when a kid begins wrestling in competition they may lose their first 30 matches. When you lose a one on one match in front of your peers and family that is tough for anyone to deal with. However, once they push through this adversity and the wins start to come you will see a transformation in your son or daughter for the better. They will learn to deal with adversity in wrestling and other parts of their life with more confidence. Please contact a coach for more information. Practice will begin in mid October at the Lumpkin County Elementary School gym. We usually practice from 6-7:30 two nights a week. Thanks, Lumpkin County Wrestling Staff
